Information

Apart from providing you with a great range of accommodation during EXIT Festival and organising transport and transfers direct to Novi Sad, the Into Exit team aim to provide you with as much information about EXIT Festival, Serbia and the surrounding regions as we possibly can.

In these pages, you can find information and tips about EXIT Festival, things to see and do in Novi Sad and Belgrade, links to useful sites, maps to get your bearings and contact details that we think you should know.

But we won't stop there, because as Serbia and the Balkans are so rich with interest and possibilities, whenever we hear of something new and exciting for you to discover we'll be sure let you know.

You can also read a thing or two about us and ways in which you can get involved if you're keen and have what it takes.

Map of the Balkans

The Balkans offer an awesome range of sites and scenery just waiting to be explored, so it's well worth your while sticking about for a bit either side of EXIT and making a real adventure out of your trip.

Here's a little map just to help you get your bearings and plan which direction of the surrounding countries and cities you'd like to go and visit.

British Embassy

The British Embassy provides useful and responsible advice for UK Nationals visiting EXIT Festival. This LINK is for the document produced for EXIT 2007; however, it is still very relevant for EXIT 2009, as it provides official advice in insurance, travel, what to do if you lose your passport and how they can help you if you find yourself in trouble with the authorities.

Public Transport

Public transport around Serbia and the Balkans is pretty efficient and also fairly cheap. Buses between the major cities run at regular intervals and you can also get cross-boarder buses from Belgrade on a daily basis.

Trains are less efficient and notoriously slow in Serbia. The train from Budapest to Novi Sad runs only twice daily and gets completely packed in the days leading up to, and after EXIT.

All public transport into and out of Novi Sad in the days before and after the festival gets booked up very quickly. If you plan to use either the bus or train to leave Novi Sad after EXIT, then make sure you book your ticket on arrival or at least a day or two in advance.

Here are some links to the respective countries national rail websites that you may find useful:

SERBIA                    SLOVENIA                       HUNGARY                    CROATIA

This website might also help you plan your journey if you are planning a big adventure from the UK: Loco2.

Driving to EXIT

If you decide to embark on a cross Europe road trip down to EXIT, then our first piece of advice is not to drive through France - the road tolls are a killer!

Secondly, to drive through Europe, you'll need to get a green card from your insurance company. However, green cards issued by most UK insurance companies don't cover Serbia and we've searched high and low for an insurance company that does, and we've found only one: SAGA; but you may not want to change your entire policy.

If your insurance company refuses to cover you, then you will be obliged to purchase short-term insurance at the border. Here is a LINK to the Serbian Tourist board website where you can find a list of prices for this temporary insurance. Scroll down the menu on the left to find the ‘green card and short term insurance' section, listed under ‘getting to Serbia'. (Bizarrely enough, 2 months insurance costs less than a month).

It is worth doing some more research yourself on this subject, as if you search the internet forums you get a variation of advice.

N.B. If you have any solid advice on the above, please do post it in on our Forum pages.
